Do your best to shop local
By Kasi Greenwood-kgreenwood@thedodgevillechronicle.com
There are many stores throughout the nation that will have "that great deal" to help make things easier financially. However here is one thing that I do request.
Make sure at least one of the items on your Christmas list comes from a local store. The local stores in the area are owned by people who have an investment within our county. Small town business owners live in our neighborhood, they shop at the same grocery stores we do, they serve on the same local government municipalities as we do and most importantly, when someone in our community is in trouble, small town business owners will do whatever it takes to help someone in need.
Small business owners are the ones who supply a significant percentage of jobs in our local communities. By shopping local this season, you are ensuring that there are more jobs near you.
Most likely, the Christmas money you spend at a business in Iowa County, stays in Iowa County.
Shopping locally is the best way to show pride in your community and help protect the businesses that make our city unique.
Shopping locally should be an item on your Christmas list.
