Panthers get past hot shooting Cardinals

Highland's boys basketball team had the start to the game they wanted when they traveled to Iowa-Grant Tuesday for a non-conference match-up.
The Cardinals rolled to a 10-2 lead before the Panthers got their feet under them.
"They shot the ball pretty well," said Iowa-Grant coach Ryan Hill about the Cardinals.
But the rolls reversed soon after and the Panthers found their shooting touch which sent them to a 16 point lead.
Highland made a comeback attempt, got it to be a nine point game then the Panthers settled in for a ride to the finish, taking the win 75-60.
"We settled in and a couple of our kids got hot," Hill said. "We also won the battle on the boards."
Michael Winders led the Panthers with 24 points, 10 the first half and 14 the second. He also pulled down 10 rebounds.
"He was tough in the paint," said Hill.
Isaac Hill took care of things on the outside with five three pointers and 23 points. He helped the Pointers to a 38 point first half and a four point lead with 15 points. Winders and Ethan Kuhls both added 10 in that stretch with the final points of the period coming on Kaden Paradis's three pointer.
Kuhls also finished in double figures for the Panthers with 14 points.
Kuhls also pulled down eight boards and Hill picked off seven.
"We shot pretty well and did a good job picking up some transition points," Hill added. "We also got everyone onto the court in what was a nice team win."
Sophomore Max Oleson led Highland with 19 points with Iassac Kutzke and Isaac Michek both netting 10. Oleson's 13 first half points helped the Cardinals to a good start and kept them close at halftime.
The Panthers now turn their attention toward the SWAL and open the conference season Friday at Darlington.
