A great tradition brought back

By Kasi Greenwood-kgreenwood@thedodgevillechronicle.com

For the past few months, the Holiday parade committee has been quite busy with helping bringing the tradition back. Being from Mineral Point, I had never seen this parade before in downtown Dodgeville, but was excited to be a part of the planning process.
There was a lot of stuff that I learned to planning the parade, finding out any contingency plans and of course viewing the upcoming weather that inevitably called for rain.
We all know that we can't control the weather and if we could I know someone most definitely would turn off the rain machine hidden somewhere in Iowa County.
Regardless it was great to see people brave the weather and to see the many floats back.
It was great to bring the parade back as well as be an emcee alongside Jeff Potsie Weber. It was great that it was alongside Home for the Holidays another great event for downtown Dodgeville.
It was quite moving to hear names read during the memorial lighting outside of the courthouse. I have to tip my hat to my supervisor Pat Reilly for being able to do that. He had alot of family members on that list and I also had one on there.
I commend all of those who came together to pull off another successful Holiday tradition. It was cold and wet, but it was truly a job well done.
