The "Breakfast Bunch" of Bob Kratochwill, Terry Carroll, Dave Stone and myself headed out for Lone Rock to "The Woods" Saturday morning only to find out they didn't open until 10 a.m. on Saturdays now. So we went a little further to "Piccadilly Lily" at the Tri-County Airport, just a little ways to the north. When we arrived there wasn't any place for four people so we sat at "the Island," a table for six. The food was great as was the service by a single waitress who had probably five other tables and six booths to cover. Food came very fast and several planes were there when we arrived with at least three more coming in while we ate. We got to talk with a couple of the pilots after we had eaten. One fellow (and wife) was from near Camp McCoy. They venture the two hours plus quite often for breakfast. Another fellow was from Waunakee. We watched a couple land and take off. The pilots said the air space was really busy that day. The weather was beautiful, but he said at 28,000 ft. flying a small plane was a little rocky!

Saturday afternoon/evening's Iowa County Cancer Coalition Society's fundraiser at the Dodger Bowl in Dodgeville was a huge success. People were wall to wall at the Dodger Bowl and there were a lot of (I mean a lot) of items for both the Silent Auction and the Live Auction. Cobb's own Greg Gard, UW Badgers Men's Basketball Coach, won the 50/50 raffle and gave his winings back to the group! Everyone raved about the Iowa County Cattlemens' steaks that were served. One pie went for $1075 while I was there. They sold three more after that, but I didn't stay any longer - was getting pretty tired!

Sunday the Dodgeville Lions Club held its 2nd and final Antique Show and Flea Market of he summer at Harris Park. It was a rough road drive to get here with Bennett Road being torn up, but you could get there from all directions. They had over 700 come through the gates to see the wares of the vendors. I talked with many of them that were happy with the show and the amount of items purchased they had. There were a couple that were a little "iffy" but that comes with the territory. It's just like at the concession stand we have there, some items that sold really well in June didn't sell this time while other items sold really good that didn't in June! In all, it was a good day. I got a chance to talk with a lot of people like a fellow from Arkansas whose wife "loves these things." They saw the signs as they were heading towards Dubuque from north of Madison and stopped. He really liked the barbeque we sold him!
Check out the photo above of longtime Dodgeville Lions Club Antique & Flea Market coordinator Bob Kratochwill talking with a couple about some of the things he had set up in a booth!
