This Saturday, August 17 is the 2nd Annual Dodgefest held right outside our office in the Iowa County Courthouse parking lot. Music, food and refreshments start at 11:00 a.m. with a local band "The Michael Mikrut Band" kicking things off. They performed at the "Pop-up Town Square Event" and were well received! There will be a new band every 2 1/2 hours - five in all with things concluding around 11:00 p.m. There's a car show along Chapel Street too plus plenty of vendors along Merrimac Street displaying their products. Stop by for some good music, food, fun and take time to talk with people attending and volunteering!

Don't forget Sunday, August 18 an auction is being held at the Dodgeville United Methodist Church to help raise money for the "feeding Friends" that is held there every Wednesday night. The event has completed five years of feeding people and is running short of funds!

Mark your calendar for Saturday, August 24 too. That's when the Iowa County Cancer Coalition will hold its fundraiser at Dodger Bowl in Dodgeville. There will be food, a silent auction, a live auction and lots of fun!

You can't say there's not something to do around the area. Just look at all the events that are told about above - and this is only a small listing!

I made it to the Madison Mallards' Baseball Park both Friday night and Saturday night. Friday night was the Home Talent League all-Star game while Saturday night was a surprise 50th birthday party for nephew Darren, who got to throw out the first pitch! Both nights were a lot of fun, especially getting together with Darren, his family and relatives and some friends! Both nights were a lot longer for me to stay up, but I seemed to "weather the storm" OK!

Check out one the photo of the entertainment pieces played between innings at those games. Dodgeville Knights catcher Dayne Leonard is overrun by the young base runner at home plate and lost the ball for a run scored!
