Dodge-Point soccer tackles ranked team to start season

The Dodge-Point girls soccer team opened up their season last week with a loss and a win. Tuesday night was a challenge against a very physical team from Sauk Prairie. Dodge-Point put in a good effort but ended the game with a 0-5 loss, playing the majority of the game in their own defensive half of the field. Dodge-Point had only five shots on goal against Sauk Prairie compared to Sauk's 26. In spite of the score, Alexis Sommerfeld had a great night with 21 saves.
Thursday night at Richland Center was a different story for Dodge-Point. Their first conference game ended in a 3-0 win with goals from Cassie Tremelling, Savannah Jones, and Rita Wilson. "It wasn't a pretty win, but it was a good win nonetheless. We've had some players out for spring break and those players haven't had a lot of practice. It was good to get them some time on the field together."
The girls play again this week at home against Galena on Tuesday and against Prairie Du Chien on Thursday. Both varsity matches will be at Dodgeville High School. Game time is 5:00 pm.
