Dear Mr. Reilly;
After reading your Opinion piece, "We are not the enemy," and remembering one written earlier by reporter Kasi Greenwood, "We're just doing our jobs," I felt I must respond.
It is extremely distressing that our country has come to the point where the press is continually attacked and maligned. You are not the enemy of the people. Instead you are the backbone of our democracy. I do not believe you print "fake news." Instead your reporters write factual columns that tell the truth. You certainly are not "fake media."
It must be discouraging to continue publishing each time you hear another comment by President Trump that makes you cringe. What a relief to read you state that are you not going away and you are in it for the long haul, despite the war on the press. This is exactly the time when a free press is needed most.
We residents of Iowa County are fortunate to have The Dodgeville Chronicle as our local newspaper. Please know that you and your staff are very much appreciated.
