It seems like the weekends get filled with more and more things to do all the time. I didn't hit a football game Friday night, but I went to the Prairie Fire Children's Theatre's presentation of "Snow White" where most of the cast is made up of local youngsters. The performance was pretty darn good for being thrown together in about a week - the time the kids had to learn their parts. The two actors who do this are Kellie Nolan and Garrett Cameron. The production is run through the Dodgeville City Recreation Department. Prairie Fire Children's Theatre is located in Minnesota.

Saturday was the Iowa County Antique Collector's Power Show at the Iowa County Fairgrounds in Mineral Point. It was pretty warm both Saturday and Sunday. It's really too bad more people don't go to that and see all the equipment your fathers, grandfathers and even great-grandfathers used and see how they used it. Attendance was pretty light when I was there around noon Saturday - maybe it picked up after I left!

Sunday is "Fall Ball" day at Centennial Park. Dodgeville, Barneveld, Mineral Point and the Sluggers (Cuba City, Prairie du Chien, Platteville mainly) play from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays through September 23. There will not be any games this coming Sunday due to Labor Day weekend and the Iowa County Fair. The concession stand is open for all of those games too!

Also, on Sunday, was the Dodgeville Lions Club's Antique Show and Flea Market at Harris Park. Attendance was maybe down a bout 25 or so, probably due to the hot, humid weather - but it was a good show and a fun day for all!

Thursday is the opening day for this year's Iowa County Fair at the fairgrounds in Mineral Point. It looks like a really fun time for all of the family. Remember, "It's Your Fair - Be there!"

Sunday is the huge Labor Day celebration in Ridgeway. You can run with the Ghost, be in the parade and have a lot of fun the entire day!

Last Wednesday, Corner Drug Store in Dodgeville hosted a Dodgeville Area Chamber of Commerce 5:01 Connect. They stay open until 6:00, so there were people doing business while the chamber members were there. It went really good and a lot of people tried out their Old Fashioned Soda Fountain that they hadn't tried before. They remembered getting phosphates and cherry cokes when they were kids! Check out the line-up of chamber members and others on the stools at the soda fountain in the photo above!

See you at the fair!
