We need to correct the record

Dear Editor;
Republicans are spending millions on TV ads that lie about Tony's Evers record, and Scott Walker refuses to drop his lawsuit to end the Affordable Care Act (at our expense). It's dirty politics and it's bad for our state. Outside Republican money is pouring in to flood the airwaves with lies about Tony.
We need to correct the record about Tony AND communicate his positive vision for Wisconsin-one where every family has access to excellent public education, safe roads, and quality, affordable health care.
Scott Walker is letting our roads crumble so he can give big tax breaks to his backers. For every $1 of deferred maintenance on roads and bridges, taxpayers are estimated to pay an additional $4 to $5 in future repairs. He's suing to end the Affordable Care Act at our cost and letting health care costs soar so he can help industry insiders make more money. And he's been waging an eight-year war on our public education system, although he has recently given a small sum back to make it look like he is doing something for education. Walker has been a disaster for Wisconsin, but he's the darling of radical right-wing donors like the Koch brothers, who know if Tony wins, they won't have a puppet governor anymore. After years of fiscal mismanagement, Wisconsin is facing a massive budget deficit based on new information from Gov. Walker's administration. Years of massive tax breaks for wealthy individuals and corporations like Foxconn have added to the state's budget woes. Latest figures from the Walker administration and the non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau reveal that Wisconsin is facing a structural deficit of $3.5 billion going into the next budget - a figure that is already expected to rise many millions higher in the coming months. He has borrowed massive amounts of money so that he can claim to have balanced the budget and just the interest costs from this continued borrowing is becoming untenable. The massive increase in unfunded liabilities going into the 2019-21 budget accounts for hundreds of millions in tax giveaways for Foxconn, massive new tax breaks for millionaires, and rising health care costs that are having a severe impact on the state's transportation shortfall, state building maintenance, and aid to local governments.
Despite strong economic growth in neighboring states, Wisconsin has trailed the nation in job creation every year since Gov. Walker took office. Median wages, when adjusted for inflation, are lower today than they were in 2011 and communities have struggled to overcome deep Republican school cuts, road project delays and ballooning health care costs. Add to this that Scott Walker has turned down approximately $1 billion of Medicaid money over the course of his tenure and you can see that he doesn't care about the people of Wisconsin.
We deserve someone like Tony, who believes: "What's best for our kids is what's best for our state."
Everything is on the line on November 6: access to healthcare, campaign finance reform, a tax system that helps Wisconsin's hardworking families, and the future of Social Security and Medicare. This is the most important midterm election of our lifetimes, and we need everyone to step up and join the fight for the future of our country.
The people of Wisconsin deserve safe roads, great public education and affordable health care. We deserve a government that believes what's best for kids is what's best for our state. Vote for Tony Evers and the democrats who will help him in saving Wisconsin from certain disaster.
