Vikings slip by Eagles at the net


Pecatonica's volleyball team surprised host Barneveld Tuesdaynight in a five set Six Rivers win.
The Vikings took game one 25-17, but then dropped the next two 25-15, 25-16. They roared back for a 25-19 win in set four and then finished it with a 15-10 win.
"We played exceptionally well tonight," said Viking coach Brad Tisch. "We clicked on all cylinders. After the first game we kind of fell asleep, but at the end of game three we started playing with energy and we kept it up."
He felt Sami Holmstrom played a strong game especially attacking. Also he said Sydney Eaton played very hard and Lexi Peterson did a nice job in the middle.
Holmstrom led in kills with 14 and added 18 digs and four aces.
Eaton had six aces and 13 assists while Peterson came up with seven kills and three blocks.
Emily Zimmerman dug 22 shots while Tessa Green had 14 assists.
For the Eagles, Leah Marx led in kills with 14. She also served six aces, had a block and had five digs.
Madi Behnke had nine kills and Jacey Spring and Macy Doescher both had a block. Doescher also had five digs.
Grace Gordon came up with 24 assists while Zoe Schmitz served three aces.
The Vikings travel to Black Hawk Thursday and Juda Tuesday.
Barneveld travels to Monticello Thursday and then hosts Black Hawk Tuesday.
Last Thursday Barneveld dropped a four set match at Albany.
They lost games one and two 28-26, 25-22 but then took game three 25-10. The final set went to the Comets 25-17.
Macy Doescher registered 10 kills while Leah Marx added seven.
Grace Gordon served six aces and Kennedy Gordon put down four.
Grace Gordon had 15 assists and Macy Doescher blocked four shots.
