Lindsey leads Pointers past Dodgers in boys basketball opener

Isaac Lindsey went off for 39 points and three more Pointers hit in double figures as the Mineral Point boys basketball team bested Dodgeville 91-67 in non-conference action Tuesday night.
Lindsey hit seven three pointers on the night. His 23 points in the first half pushed the Pointers to a 47-39 lead.
Brayden Dailey added 15 points with 11 coming in the second half. Wes Berget put in 12, including 10 in the first half and Garrett Wendhausen hit 11 on the night.
The Dodgers led early thannks to five three pointers and 21 points by Adam Phillips. Wayne Larson Jr. put in 11 points and 10 points came from Noah Blalock.
"I thought we shared the ball well on offense all night and it was a great team effort on the glass. ," said Mikneral Point coach Dan Burreson. "In the second half we were much better defensively than we were in the first half. Our man and zone we got a lot of deflections in the second half."
"We got contributions from a lot of guys tonight," he added. "Isaac shot it really well from distance and at the basket. Brayden was in double figures, Wes added 12 and Garrett Wendhausen 11. I will take 4 guys in double figures every night."
"I was pleased with the job Garrett and Mason Dailey did defensively. I thought Bray and Isaac did a good job with their length. Wes was solid all night. We got some really good minutes off of the bench tonight by Liam Stumpf and Blaise Watters. They give us good depth. I was really pleased with what Justin Baehler and Grant Bossert were able to give us in their first varsity games."
"Give Dodgeville credit," Burreson said. "They played well and Matt had them ready."
Dodgeville coach Matt McGraw said, "I was very happy with a lot of points in our game. We did a lot of good things, especially in the first half. We had dribble drives, open looks and kicks to score against a very good team. We fouled them too much and let them get in a flow."
"We didn't have an answer for Lindsey. He shot very well," he added.
