Hornets take care of Cardinals from 3-point land

Once Richland Center's boys basketball team found the range they didn't stop draining the three pointers in their 72-52 win over Highland in non-conference action last Tuesday.
The Hornets, a SWC squad, put down 11 shots from beyond the arc as they raced to a 32-19 halftime lead. Christian Eernisse, a 5-8 junior, hit four three-pointers as did 6-4 junior Jacob Schauf and both led the Hornets with 14 points. 6-0 junior Rory Schultz hit a pair of threes and ended up with 10 points. Jeron Johnson had the other three pointer for the Hornets.
The Cardinals were able to hang around for awhile but could not cool the Hornets from deep.
"We shot pretty well hitting 45% of our shots but they made 53% of their threes," said Highland coach Paul Wedig. "We could not compete with that. They are quick, handle the ball well and are good shooters."
Derek Miller led Highland with 17 points as he ruled the inside game. Spencer Linscheid chipped in with 11 points and hit the only Cardinal three of the night.
Miller rejoined the Cardinals after taking a year off.
"He is really playing well," said Wedig. "He listens, learns and is a good leader for us."
