Here's a suggestion

Dear Editor;
Like many others, I was absolutely appalled at the recent picture showing a group of young men on the courthouse steps giving what looked like a "Nazi Salute." It may have been an innocent gesture, but there's nothing innocent about it.
Unfortunately, this generation of young people have no idea what happened 93 years ago. "Lest we forget" was heard many times over the years, but I'm afraid we have forgotten! Contrary to what Mr. Trump said, these groups of White Supremacists are not nice people and they need to know why they are not nice, just what their agenda is and why the hate they express is not tolerated here.
I have a suggestion: Make it mandatory that every high school in the USA has at least a semester of learning just what the Holocaust was. With pictures!! There are any number of good books on the subject that would help this generation understand. There's also some good TV documentaries - "Band of Brothers" (last 1-2 episodes show it all)
Book suggestions: "Schindler's List (movie), The Boy on the Wooden Box, The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas, The Nightingale.
This is a chance to make something good come out of an unfortunate situation - So we don't forget!
Sincerely,
Marilyn Simons
