We are the change

By Kasi Greenwood-kgreenwood@thedodgevillechronicle.com

By the time of this publication, the election has concluded and results have been released. No matter who you voted for (or didn't), we know our representatives for the state of Wisconsin, and also our nation.
For months, we have seen T.V. commercials, we have heard public service announcements (PSA) on the radio, and our mailboxes have been flooded with flyers, pamphlets, and other written material giving information on each candidate.
You may be disappointed in the results, or you may be satisfied, but one thing remains constant in election periods. Representatives, congressmen, governors, and other political candidates can only be sworn in one way: by a vote from the public.
We are in control of who represents our country through our right to vote. If you want to make a change, it is your civic duty to visit your local municipality and cast your vote.
While it is your right to vote (or not to vote), voting isn't the only way to make a difference in your community. There are so many ways one can do so.
-Volunteer: whether its at a school event, or helping out at the local shelters. Volunteerism is a great way to take time and remember to help people that shape our communities.
-Join local organizations: Whether it's Kiwanis, Lions Club, or an Auxiliary member, being involved in organizations is another great to build relationships and work in team based environments and work towards a common goal. There is something for everyone.
Standing up to help is a great way to make a difference for change in your community. Change begins with you, it begins with me, it begins with all of us.
