Along The Ad Routes

Thursday night I went to the opening show of "Seussical the Musical," a Dr. Seuss production by Dodgeville High School. While it was pretty darn good, it would've been better in an auditorium. I sure hope that Tuesday night's elections brought that auditorium to a reality at the high school, along with the new gymnasium - something we also need as there is never enough gymnasium space to go around. Also, the Dodge-Point gymnastics team should be able to perform at the high school instead of the middle school, which is way too small to house them and their fans.

Anyway, the musical was good and the kids, who were performing or a part of it, were having fun - and that's the most important thing. There was a lot of music - singing and dancing! The props were very well done and were colorful too! See the above photo of one of the scenes!

There has been a "Hurricane Relief" project going on at Piggly Wiggly in Dodgeville and the Mineral Point Rescue Squad Building. Sunday was supposed to be the day everything that was donated was going to be loaded in an ET Transport vehicle to be taken to Florida. But the all-day rain forced postponement of the loading, so it is scheduled to take place this coming Sunday at Piggly Wiggly.

We want to welcome Mary Martin, with family and Friends, as the newest business in downtown Dodgeville - Rocking Horse Antiques and More. They are open at 121 N. Iowa St., the former video store building.

We lost the rest of our local coverage football teams last Friday night when Highland and Mount Horeb-Barneveld both went down in defeat. They both had very good seasons and probably both exceeded expectations from the start of the season!

From our area, Lancaster is still in the hunt for a state berth in Division 6 of the WIAA football playoffs. They go to Elkhorn Friday night to take on Racine Lutheran, the team that ousted Mineral Point. Also, Black Hawk plays in Madison against Bangor, last year's state champions in Division 7, who beat Highland last week. Good luck - there's only two games before state champs are crowned!

I'm hearing there's some of that "white stuff" in the forecast by this coming weekend!

Just think - it's just over six weeks until Christmas!
