I thank my teachers
They have all had teachers who in many ways helped shape their lives.
With this being Teacher Appreciation Week we should do just that.
Many of the teachers I had in elementary, junior high and high school are no longer with us but that does not mean I don't think about them and remember how they helped me become someone who enjoys learning. I use the skill they taught me to this day.
Teaching is a profession that requires a lot of things other professions do not. While students are constantly learning, teachers must too. We are glad they want to do this.
Perhaps the first time I found out how valuable the education I received at Dodgeville was what happened in my first year at UW-Platteville. The guy in the next room from me was having problems with chemistry and asked if I could help. I admit I struggled some with chemistry in high school and received a C. But, I decided to take a stab at it and see if I could lend a hand.
I went down the list of problems and could answer them all. I was able to help him and get him on the right track. I was amazed that I could do that.
But then I remembered the my chemistry instructor, Mr. Theodore Prideaux said he was teaching us at a college level.
I was glad he did and so was the guy who lived next door.
Thank you Mr. Prideaux and all the rest of the teachers I have ever had.
