Eagle baseballers drop Belmont


Barneveld's baseball team won a five-inning 10-2 victory over Belmont Friday night.
The Eagles plated one run in the first, two in the second, four in the third and three in the fourth.
The Braves scored once in both the second and third.
Barneveld only rapped out six hits in the win, but were aided by Reece Peterson (1x1) and Trendon Barsness (0x1) walking three times each.
The Eagles were given 13 free passes.
Trey Gordon tripled and was 2x4 scoring twice and driving in two runs. Isaac Baumgarten was 1x2 with a double, drove in two runs and scored twice.
Peterson, Caleb Behnke and Alex Johnson had the other hits.
Baumgarten went three innings giving up five hits and two runs with a pair of strikeouts and bases on balls. Barsness finished giving up nothing with one walk and four strikeouts.
Eathan James, Colin Austin, Riley Christiansen, Connor Wiegel and Justin Ernst had the Belmont hits. Ernst and Brady Wedig drove in the two runs.
The Braves used five hurlers with Eathan James going the first 1 2/3 and getting the loss. He allowed three runs on two hits with three strikeouts and six walks.
Colin Austin, Riley Christiansen, Luke Camps and Jacob Amenda also took turns on the mound.
