Dodgers win own round robin

For much of the season junior outfielder Brayden Boley has had a difficult assignment for the Dodgeville baseball team.
He has been the "insurance policy," the one player who is there if someone gets hurt or there are various reasons players become ineligible. He patiently waits his turn, gets an at bat or two a game and performs a key role for the team.
Saturday he received the biggest challenge of the season and he made the most of the chance he was given. With the game with a good Saint Francis team tied at 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh Boley took a 3-0 fastball into right center and sent Zack Weber home with the winning run. Weber had singled and stole second.
Boley was charged and saluted by his teammates and later received the water cooler dump. His hit gave the Dodgers two wins in their own round robin tournament as the Saint Francis 5-4 win followed a 9-6 over a good hitting Hillsboro team in the tourney opener.
Saint Francis tripped Hillsboro in the second game to set up a showdown with the Dodgers.
Will Borne-Mumm went six innings and Wayne Larson, Jr. pitched the seventh and got the win in relief. Borne-Mumm fanned two, walked five and gave up five hits and two runs.  Larson, Jr. walked one, gave up two hits and was the victim of an error that let in two unearned runs.
Weber's sac fly in the first followed singles by Tanner Bockhop and Larson for the first Dodgeville run.
A fielders choice let Mike Mikrut reach first in the second and he later scored on a hit by Larson.
The Dodgers added another in the third when JJ Thompson reached on a single, advanced on a passed ball and scored on a hit by Anthony Vivian.
Shelby Jones reached on an error in the fourth and scored on a fielders choice,
The winning run then came courtesy of Boley.
Brandon Molldrem and Larson combined to pitch the opener with Hillsboro, Molldrem fanned three, walked two and gave up six hits and five runs.
Larson struck out two, walked one and spaced five hits. He gave up an unearned run.
The Dodgers struck for four runs in the first, three of them on a three run home run by Anthony Vivian. They scored the rest of their nine runs with five in the fifth. Molldrem, Thompson Mikrut and Bockhop all had hits in the big inning.
Both teams had 11 hits. Thompson was 3x4, Molldrem 2x4, Vivian 2x3 and Bockhop 2x3 for the Dodgers. Vivian had a home run and a double.
Mikrut and Weber finished out the hitting with a single each.
