Dodge-Point track begins season


The Dodgeville-Mineral Point trak & field team got its first taste of competition on Tuesday, March 20 at the Tri-State invitational held at UW-Platteville inside Williams Fieldhouse.
The boys and girls teams both competed in the Large School Division.
The boys finished 8th out of 13 teams competing with 25 points while the girls were 13th out of 14 with 9 points.
Oregon won the girls meet with 110 points while Davenport West took the boys meet at 123.
Platteville (9th girls and 6th boys), River Valley (14th girls and 12th boys) and Lancaster (10th girls and boys) were other SWC teams taking part.
The boys scored in the distances with Gerrit Bakker taking 2nd in the 800 meters with a time of 2:10. Also Henry Keith was 3rd in the 1600 at 4:48 with Isaac Grunow 4th in 4:51. Also, in that race, Jordan May took 11th in 5:17.
Kevin Eisenzimmer scored in the 200 meters taking 8th in 25.55.
The 4x800 relay team of David Nagel, Owen Miller, Jerimiah Beasley and Dylan McGraw took 5th in 9:48.
The 4x200 relay team of Jacob Wedig, Caden Jackson, Jacob Valeria and Kevin Eisenzimmer scored by finishing 8th in 1:45.
Other finshes were: 55 m-Jacob Wedig 17th 7.16, Gabe Sporle 33rd 7.86, Zach Wetter 37th 8.25; 200m-Matthew Nordstrom 27th 28.42, Mason Dailey 28th 28.64; 400m-Blaise Watters 13th 58.87; high jump-Jacob Valeria 14th 5'2", Caden Jackson 24th 4'8"; long jump-Gabe Sporle 33rd 14'4", Mason Dailey 35th 13'10.5"; shot put-Dylan Dees 27th 31'3", Lance James 33d 28'8", Gavin Weber 36th 26'3".
The girls 4x800 relay team of Cassie McGraw, Hannah Tremelling, Emily Cody and Josie Jabs led their scoring finishing 4th in 11:24.
Lindsay Johnson took 6th in the 1600 with a time of 6:10. In that same event, Chloe Oberhauser was 13th in 6:32.
The rest of their scoring came from a 7th place tie in the high jump between Mariya Schmitz and Malorie Johnson at 4'6".
Other finishes were: 800m-Livia Winch 20th 3:03; 55m-Tessa Bockhop 15th 8.32, Emma Ladd 30th 8.84; 200m-Jorja Mortimer 22nd 31.72, Haily Murphy 31st 33.41; 55 hurdles-Mariya Schmitz 25th 12.26; 4x22-Jalene Pierick, Malorie Johnson, Nicole Johnson, Madison Stumpf 13th 2:11; long jump-Jalene Pierick 16th 12'9", Emma Ladd 29th 10'2"; shot put-Brooke Rhyner 15th 26'11", Natalie Goetzke 26th 23'3.25", Sadie Owens 29th 22'2".
