Congratulations to the Dodgeville-Mineral Point gymnastics team on their second consecutive state championship appearance. One huge highlight of them competing was the fact they had their lone senior (competitor) Alyssa Belling do a bars routine in the final meet of her career. Congratulations, also, to Miah Lemanski for making it to the podium individually for the second straight year. She finished 5th on floor exercise! Check out the above photo with Miah Lemanski waiting to perform on the beam at state with coaches Julia Oellerich (left) and Annette Anderson with her.

Congratulations to two area boys basketball teams that are advancing to sectional play next Thursday - Mineral Point and Barneveld. Both earned regional championship trophies Saturday night. Mineral Point competes in Division 4 while Barneveld is in Division 5.

It must be getting close to spring. I have had several people talk to me about seeing robins lately. Then, on Wednesday, February 28, I saw a fly land on my car when I was leaving the Chronicle and when I was arriving home that night (getting dark outside) I saw a firefly!

This week the weather is supposed to get back to the winter mode as it was supposed to snow Monday and Tuesday and temperatures are supposed to be in the low to mid 30's into the weekend. It may reach low 40's by the first part of next week. By St. Pat's Day (Saturday, March 17), though, it is supposed to get closer to spring-like temperatures - into the low 50's!

The word I received last week is that Casey's General Store is supposed to close/take over the CITGO station on Iowa Street in Dodgeville on March 13.

Don't forget that if you have some free time on Saturday, April 28 the Wisconsin Grilled Cheese Championships will be held at Harris Park in Dodgeville. The chamber of commerce is in need of volunteers to help out. Check out the chamber website for more information or call the chamber at 935-9200. They are planning a Friday night event at Dodger Bowl too! These are two big area events that bring a lot of people here so don't miss the chance to help out if you can!

This Saturday night (actually Sunday at 2 a.m.) be sure to turn your clocks ahead (Spring AHEAD) as it's daylight savings time again! If you forget, then your Sunday will be all messed up!
