Congratulations to Iowa-Grant/Highland wrestlers Max Maylor and Brady Peat on winning state individual wrestling championships. Also, to River Valley's Shane Liegel for winning at 170, his second title. Maylor and Peat are seniors - Maylor (160) from Highland and Peat (182) from Iowa-Grant. Also, congrats to River Valley senior Zach Licht, 3rd at 126 and Mineral Point senior Riley Workman, 5th at 170. To the rest who made it to state - there are plenty of wrestlers out there that just wish they had been there competing!

The Dodgeville-Mineral Point gymnastics team won their sectional championship and will be going to state for the second consecutive year. They don't have a senior competing as Alyssa Belling is injured. Good luck to them as teams compete Friday afternoon/evening and individuals compete Saturday.

I have a great niece, Emma Berg, competing on the Dodge-Point team as a freshman. She's brother Pat's granddaughter!

Both the Dodgeville and Mineral Point girls basketball teams fell short Saturday night in winning regional titles and advancing to the sectional level in trying to get to state. The Dodgers lost to Platteville, a team they had beaten twice (third time is always tougher). The Pointers lost to Darlington, a team thay lost to three times. They both had good seasons!

I heard the Grey Dog Deli in Mineral Point underwent a remodeling job and is back open.

Don't forget that if you have some free time on Saturday, April 28 the Wisconsin Grilled Cheese Championships will be held at Harris park in Dodgeville. The chamber of commerce is in need of volunteers to help out. Check out the chamber website for more information or call the chamber at 935-9200. They are planning a Friday night event at Dodger Bowl too!

I received a call early Monday morning from a lady who lives in Dodgeville. She said she has a flowering crocus outside of her home that is surrounded by Robins! This is still February isn't it? February 26!
