The Iowa County Dairy Breakfast fell on a cool Saturday morning last weekend, but the people kept coming and coming. Bob Kratochwill, Terry Carroll and myself, left Dodgeville at 6:30 a.m. to be some of the early birds. There were quite a few people there when we arrived, but the line to get in wasn't too long. We ate, I took photos and we made our way around most of the exhibits and left just before 9:00. The line was getting longer by that time and I heard that it was a lot longer around 9:30. When I ate, besides sitting with Bob and Terry, I sat with two 1964 classmates - Joanne (Mellum) Koch (mother of co-host Jody Miller) and Carol (Brue) Polkinghorn. Ok both husbands were there too and Bill Polkinghorn graduated in 1963 from Dodgeville. We had the chance to talk with Jody and husband Dan for awhile after eating and ran into quite a few people we hadn't seen in quite some time - in fact, probably since last year's dairy breakfast!

When we were leaving we ran into Matt and Carrie Miller and their sons Owen and Cole who were getting there for their shift to help out at the Miller Family Farm!

There was a lot to going on over the weekend as graduation parties were still being held, there was the "Hops for Hope" event at Harris Park and a big "Arts" weekend in Mineral Point - just to name a few events. The new Mexican Market - Azteca Market Tienda Mexicana - held its Grand Opening on Sunday, located between the Chinese Restaurant and Bear 'n Bee Salon on the north end of Dodgeville.

This Thursday evening will be the Bloomfield Healthcare's Balloon Fest. It's always a great family fun time with lots of things for the entire family to enjoy. Their parade features a lot of fun things too! It all starts at 5:00.

Last Wednesday evening St. Joseph Church held its "Run for Fun & Fun Fest" at the church/school parking lot. Jared Abbrederis, former UW Badger and Green Bay Packers football player was the official starter of the race plus some of the UW Badger Band members did their "5th Quarter" rendition and Bucky Badger made a hit with the youngsters. Check out the above photo of Monsignor Daniel Ganshert shouting out the race's start with Jared Abbrederis alongside of him.

Another fact about Jared Abbrederis - he played against Dodgeville in football his junior year in high school at Wautoma. He told me he had a pretty good night against us - and he did from his quarterback spot!

This Saturday you can head to Hyde (between Arena and Ridgeway) to the Blacksmith Family Day at the Hyde Blacksmith Shop. You'll find plenty of interesting things to do including a wagon ride around the area.
