Pointer boys start strong, topple I-G

Mineral Point's boys basketball team put on another offensive show Tuesday night with Iowa-Grant being the beneficiary.
The Pointers won 86-35 with 10 players reaching the scoring column.
Brayden Dailey led all scorers with 20 points while Isaac Lindsey buried five three pointers on his way to 18
Liam Stumpf came off the bench and added 17, including a pair from long range.
The Pointers hit 13 shots from three point land on the night.
They led 49-21 at halftime and coasted to the win.
"It was a good solid team effort. We had great balance on offense, everyone was committed defensively," said Pointer coach Dan Burreson after the game. "I like how we are starting to rebound the ball."
"Liam Stumpf with a career high 17 points. He scored in a variety of ways," the coach added.
"We had good team rebounding: Chance Wendhausen with 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Brayden Dailey with 6 boards and Garrett Wendhausen 5," Burreson pointed out. "Isaac Lindsey and Brayden were real good offensively and I thought Mason Dailey played well on both ends. We also had good minutes by Eric Heisner. Wes played well and fought through an illness."
Iowa-Grant's Jackson Vingen was the lone Panther to hit in double figures with 10.
"The 13 three pointers they made hurt us," said coach Ryan Hill of the can't miss shooting performance of the Pointers. "They hit eight of them the first half that really buried us."
"We fought and we played hard," Hill added. 'We didn't hang our heads but they are just too good and are on a roll right now. They are a very good basketball team."
Hill said the Panthers did some good things and he felt they had some good reversal passes and decent looks against the Pointer 1-3-1 zone.
"It never hurts to play someone better if you take something away from it," Hill said. "We did ok but they are just better than us and most teams right now."
