Lemanski leads D-P gmnasts

Miah Lemanski came through with the top All-Around score by any entrant in either division Saturday as the Dodge-Point gymnastics team took second in Division 2 at the Southwestern Invitational.
The Dodge-Point sophomore totaled 35.425 in topping Southwestern/Cuba City/Benton senior Kelsie Goffinet's 34.300.
SW/CC/B won D2 with 128.925 points to Dodge-Point's 127.875.
Then came Whitewater at 122.975, GET with 105.100 and Prairie du Chien/Fennimore at 104.725.
In JV competition, Dodge-Point won a three team race.
Besides All-Around, Lemanski won vault with 9.325, took second on floor (9.10 and bars 9.865) and was fourth on beam (8.35).
D-P sophomore Tessa Bockhop won bars at 9.15.
"We didn't do as well as we had hoped in the Varsity competition," said Dodge-Point coach Julia oellerich. "We are still struggling to complete our beam routines clean and with no falls. When we are going up against these tough teams, we can't afford to keep making these mistakes."
"On the bright side, we improved our overall vault scores by nearly two full points and had some awesome bar scores, with Tessa Bockhop taking first place with a personal best of 9.15, followed by her teammates Miah Lemanski in second and Elle Honerbaum in fifth," she added."We did well in the all-around competition as well, with three of our varsity gymnasts medaling."
Oellerich taled about the JV, "Our JV team had an outstanding meet. The team took first in the tournament and each JV competitor medaled in at least one event. We also saw a lot of personal bests on Saturday, including a phenomenal score of 8.2 on floor for Jorah Jacobson, allowing her to take first place on floor and helping her secure a fourth place medal in the all-around competition. Makayla Parkin also had a great personal best score on floor with an 8.0, which took second and also helped her secure the second place medal in the all-around competition. Jorja Mortimer also medaled in the all-around competition, earning a fifth place medal."
She added, "Also medaling in the combined all-around competition, which is made up of gymnasts that compete on both JV and Varsity, were Katlyn Yingst in fifth place, Emily Sullivan in fourth place, and Lily McDonald in second place."
"I'm proud of how well the JV gymnasts presented themselves. This was the first invitational they've competed in, which can be very frightening and intimidating but they all brought their A-game, which was proved by their high scores and all of the medals they brought home," she concluded.
