I-G/Highland wins big match

Iowa-Grant/Highland wrestlers edged a tough Darlington/Black Hawk squad 39-35 Friday in SWAL action.
They started out with a 15-0 lead thanks to pins by Clayton Kite (1520 and Max Maylor (170) and a decision by Keegan Pilling at 160.
Brady Peat (195) and Drew Hennessey (285) also registered pins.
"It was a big win for us.," said IK-G/Highland coach Ryan Allen. "It was senior night and parents night and to get a win over a solid team like they have was fun to watch. The four seniors we had in the line up all got pins for us and that was huge."
In talking about his individuals he said, "At 106 we had Marcus Hanson, a Highland kid who has very little experience, who wrestled very hard for 6 minutes. And although he lost the match by 2, he saved us some big team points. I'm excited to watch Marcus to learn and grow and help the team out more.
"At 126, Andrew had a tough wrestler tonight and needs to remember to keep working hard. He is a tough kid and will get better.
"132 Noah has been wrestling well lately and got a nice pin tonight.
"138 Jason had a very good kid tonight and fought his butt off for 6 min. He ended up losing the match but did everythimg he could for his team.
"145 Matthew needs to keep grinding and build up some confidence. He has the ability to wrestle with these guys but he has to believe in himself a little more.
"152 It was great having Clay back and although he had a slow start, he got the job done by getting the pin. It will be fun watching Clay finish up his senior season.
"160 Keegan wrestled a good match to win 6-1 tonight. He was never really in danger at any point of the match. Keegan has improved a ton this year and is only going to keep getting better.
"170 Max also got a nice pin for us tonight. He is on a roll and got some big team point for his team tonight.
"182 Donald got some good mat time in against a state qualifier from last year. Donald is going to keep getting better with his good work ethic.
"195 Brady bumped up a weight due to and injury to senior Clint Havlik and got a great pin for the team.
"Hwt- Drew also bumped up for the good of the team and scored a big fall. Drew has been wrestling very well and will be a force in February."
