Along The Ad Routes

It was good to see several Dodgeville High School alumni playing in the Pep Band at the basketball games last Friday night.

Joelle Doye, former Dodgeville Chronicle and Democrat Tribune employee and now with the Mineral Point School District, posted on FACEBOOK that she even got to use music that contained hand writing on it by the late DHS band director John Mingst (see above photo)! That was on the musical piece "Our Director", the Dodgeville school song.

We are currently experiencing heat wave conditions with temperatures in the 20s soon to be climbing into the 40s by paper date this week. Conditions are supposed to downgrade some into the mid to low 20s for about a week and then get back into the 40s. Not bad for January!

Last Saturday when we (Terry Carroll, Bob Kratochwill and myself) headed to Spring Green for breakfast, the temperature on Terry's vehicle was -11. It kept dropping as we headed north and by the time we got to Spring Green it read -18. So, that just goes to show that temperatures drop as you head north! When I go to Mineral Point and talk with someone, I always make it a point (in the winter) to mention that it is warmer here because you are south of us!

There must be something about the intersection between the courthouse and Cobblestone Coffee Shop. That's where a "delivery" truck driver didn't stop for me crossing (in the crosswalk) a couple weeks ago when I was already halfway across. Last week I was crossing at that same intersection and a small station wagon-like vehicle was heading north and I stopped for it when I was already halfway across. When I reached the other side a fellow had seen that and said "No way were they going to stop". I said sometimes I just keep walking and force them to stop, but that one was going way too fast - I value my life too much!

It sure is good to NOT have a Monday holiday this week. Maybe things will get back to normal as far as at the office and in our normal routines!
