Hannah Jones and Grace Borne combined for 27 of Dodgeville's 41 second half points in a 64-55 win over Platteville giving the Lady Dodgers the undisputed SWC championship. It is their second title in the last four years.
Jones finished the night with 29 points while Borne, who scored only two free throws in the first half, ended with 14.
"Hannah was good," said Dodger coach Josh Busch. "She is that leaeder that you want. She took over the game both offensively and defensively. In the first three minutes of the second half she had 3-4 steals that turned into points and turned the game around."
Jones also finished the night with six steals that turned into points.
"Grace did a really nice job being aggressive and attacking from the perimeter," he added. "It really helps a lot when she does that."
Olivia Argall was the third Dodger to reach double digits with 11. The first half was a grinder for both teams with the Lady Hillmen holding a 24-23 advantage at the break.
"We had 12 turnovers the first half. We didn't make good decisions in transition. We had good looks, they just didn't go in," Busch went on saying. "The second half we only turned the ball over four times and did a much better job taking care of the ball. Defensively, in the second half, it was the best we'd played all season."
"It was a really good atmosphere. We were one of the few games being plasyed. There were a lot of people there and that really helped too," Busch concluded.
Isabella Carroll propelled Platteville's first half with a trio of three pointers and 11 of her 13 points.
Sami Martin hit 17 points, 10 coming in the second half, to lead the Lady Hillmen scorers.
Becca Hoyer had 10 of her 15 in period two.
