Understaffed Panthers fall to Cubans

With the flu traveling through the Iowa-Grant girls basketball team, coupled with an injury and a concussion, competing with SWAL co-leader Cuba City was a tall order for the Panthers.
Olivia Liddicoat was sick all night but still scored eight points, all in the first half. She got sick again at halftime, tried to go but couldn't.
Annie Spurley, the other Panther scoring threat, had a 10 point first half but sprained an ankle in the process. She was taped up, scored early in the second half, then had to leave with the injury getting worse.
Kenzie Oakes did not even make it onto the floor. She has yet to be cleared after suffering a recent concussion.
With the ranks facing a shortage the Panthers cold only manage 12 second half points and went down to the Cubas 74-32.
"Cuba City is a very good team and we knew we had to play well to stay with them," said Iowa-Grant coach Dan Liddicoat. "We were without three starters much of the game but we did what we had to do."
Trinity Spurley tried to pick up the slack for the Panthers and had 10 points including eight of their 12 - their second half total.
The Panthers are at Southwestern Friday in a key game for seeding purposes
"We would like nothing better than to get that one," Liddicoat said.
