Second half cold spell sinks Panthers

When Iowa-Grant's boys basketball team went in for intermission Friday trailing Southwestern 31-24 they talked about coming out and making a run.
But that never happened.
Instead the lid snapped down hard on the basket and the Panthers could only manage 10 points the last 18 minutes. Meanwhile Southwestern matched their first half total and claimed a 62-34 win in the SWAL match-up.
"It should have been a better game," Iowa-Grant coach Ryan Hill said. "We couldn't score after halftime and things got ugly."
The second half was a series of "didn'ts" for the Panthers.
"We didn't execute offensively. We didn't value the basketball. We didn't get many good looks and we didn't play good team basketball," Hill said.
Hill gave credit to the Wildcats and their ability to solve the defenses the Panthers threw at them.
"We mixed it up on defense with our man and zone and sometimes we did OK with it. But they are quick, deep and have many scoring threats," Hill added.
Dylan Rieken led the Wildcats with 19 points as 11 players found the scoring column.
Jackson Vigen led the Panthers with 13 points and Isaac Hill added nine.
"We have some more growing pains to overcome, I guess," Hill concluded.
