River Valley tops Dodgers on the mat
After trailing by 12, the Blackhawks posted eight wis in the next nine matches for the win.
"I was really proud of some of the guys efforts," said River Valley co-coach Curtis Fiedler. "We certainly still have work to do if we want to accomplish the goals we set out for at the beginning of the year, but we are pointed in the right directions."
He added, "You have to tip you hat to Phelan for moving up to wrestle Shane, but Shane is on another level right now. He has been a man on a mission all year long he has that look of a young man that can't be stopped."
Dodgeville coach Ryan Lord talked about the match saying, "I thought we had a decent shot to win our dual against Valley on Thursday night. It would have been a nice way for our seniors to go out in their last dual, but unfortunately we had two seniors out due to injury (Jonathon & Shelby) and we lost two matches that I thought we would win. Our seniors that were healthy wrestled well. Dylan Harpold accepted a forfeit & Noah Durst registered a pin. John Phelan moved up a weight to take on undefeated and returning state champion, Shane Leigel. Although John was a bit out-sized & ultimately pinned, I admire John for willing to move up a weight class and accepting the challenge. Zack Weber also moved up a weight class and pinned 12th ranked Brock Mahoney. Zack is wrestling outstanding right now & I believe capable of beating anyone in his weight class. The only other victorious wrestler for the Dodgers was Joey Recob who also recorded a pin."

I-G/Highland slips by Riveredale
Iowa-Grant/Highland wrestlers emerged a 37-33 winner over Riverdale in a SWAl match that had plenty of forfeits and pins.
The Panthers received two forfeits as did the Chieftains and there was one double forfeit.
I-G/H recorded three pins while Riverdale had two.
"We were short handed," Iowa-Grant/Highland coach Ryan Allen said. "Max (Maylo -160) was sick and Marcus Hanson (106) was also sick. That, plus our poor wrestling, made for a very close dual. We did not wrestle well as a team and gave up quite a few bonus points and didn't do a lot of scoring extras. But we did win and with that win we sealed up second place in a tough conference."
"I am proud of our guys so far this year especially for the way they wrestled in the conference duals this year. They were all team efforts and there were many sacrifices made by almost every guy on the team for the benefit of the team. I am very excited to watch the rest of this season unfold," he said.
