Pointers avenge loss, topple Redbirds

Mineral Point not only avenged their only conference loss earlier this season at Darlington, they did it convincingly with an 86-54 win Thursday night in boys basketball action.
Brayden Dailey scored 13 of his game-high 21 points in the second half while Isaac Lindsey put in 13 of his 20 in the first half.
Garrett Wendhausen also hit in double figures, scoring 10 of his 14 in the first half.
That prompted Pointer coach Dan Burreson to say, "We had great balance on the offensive end with three players in double figures and two guys (Wes Berget and Chance Wendhausen) with nine."
The Pointers build up a nearly insurmountable 49-27 lead by halftime.
"We had a really good effort tonight," Burreson continued. "It was a team effort on the boards as well."
Chance Wendhausen had eight rebounds while Berget and Lindsey both had seven and Garrett Wendhausen gathered in five.
"Offensively we moved and shared the ball well as Chance and Isaac had six assists apiece," he also said. "Defensively we were active the entire game. Our defense created a lot of our offense."
Lindsey had six steals, Garrett Wendhausen four with Brayden Dailey three and Berget two.
"Mason Dailey knocked down a shot early to get us going," Burreson pointed out. "We had some good minutes off the bench from Liam Stumpf and Eric Heisner."
Darlington's Stryker Fitzsimons led their offense with 15 points. Carter Lancaster added 10.
