Panthers slowed in second half with Fennimore

Iowa-Grant's boys basketball team put a jolt into Fennimore the first half of their SWAL game Friday and grabbed a 32-28 halftime lead.
But the second half was a different story.
The Golden Eagles turned up the heat defensively and held the Panthers to one basket--a three pointer by freshman Isaac Hill--with the rest of the offense coming from seven free throws. While the Panthers were struggling to score the Eagles were having no problem finding the hole as they eased to a 65-42 win.
Jackson Vigen and Kruz Kitelinger shot the Panthers to the lead at halftime. Vigen popped in 10 and Kitelinger eight the first 18 minutes.
The second half it was the Reid Larson and Liam Kenney show for the Eagles with Larson putting up 15 points and Kenney 12. The duo finished with 23 and 16.
"We won the first half," said coach Ryan Hill as the Panthers played the ranked team with a good man to man defense. "They were cold the first half and we were the second half."
The Eagles came at the Panthers the second half with a high trapping defense and forced some costly turnovers. Then they started scoring.
"We played pretty good team defense but we couldn't shut down their weapons," Hill said. "We held Reid Larson to eight and Liam Kenney to four the first half before they got loose the second half and found ways to score."
Hill was happy with the stellar first half play.
"They are a very good basketball team," Hill said about Fennimore. They are ranked for a reason."
"We have been having good practices lately and our plan is to keep working hard and playing aggressively," Hill said.
Vigen ended up with 13 points for the Panthers with Hill adding nine and Kitelinger eight.
