Barneveld stops Prairie

Malcom Reed and Jacob Slaney both made two free throws down the stretch and helped Barneveld's boys basketball team to a 48-40 win over Prairie du Chien Saturday.
Reed had been 1x4 fron the line before making both shots.
"We made our free throws down the stretch and that's something we've been struggling at," said Barneveld coach Tyler Sullivan. "We also took care of the ball. Those are two things that have hurt us some as games end."
It was a defensive game for the Eagles as they pressured the guards and packed the inside.
As a result, they held 6'7" Hunter Davis to 13 points, mostly in the second half.
Prairie's Mason Framer added 11.
"We worked really hard to force them to take shots they didn't want to take," Sullivan added. "We kept their big guy away from the basket because we knew he was more comfortable around the rim."
Eagle senior Kauy Fargo led all scorers with 18 points.
"Turnovers were a big thing for us to handle," Sullivan pointed out. "We had nine in the first half and only one after that. The kids did what we wanted them to do."
"This is a good win for us against a bigger division team. It will help us come tournament time," Sullivan said.
