Congratulations to Dodgeville boys basketball senior Bryce Prochaska for reaching the 1000 point total in his career. It not only takes scoring pretty good each game you play, but also remaining healthy your entire career. He spends a lot of time in the gym polishing his talents!

We sure have been having strange weather recently - as if the rest of the country hasn't?!!! Friday was supposed to be a day in the 40's and be nice, but it rained until around 2:00 p.m. and then the nice day began. I think the forecasters in the morning Friday said rain was coming, but the day before there was none in sight as far as I knew. Then on Sunday, I wasn't expecting snow in the morning as I was getting up and heading to church - but it came in the early a.m.

This Sunday is the day of the Big NFL Football Game! I probably won't even watch it as the SWAL/SWC Conference Wrestling Tournament is the day before and I will probably be compiling those results from teams. We cover Dodgeville, Iowa-Grant/Highland, Mineral Point and River Valley out of that tournament. Anyway, I really don't care which team wins that football game. The only good thing is that both teams have former UW Badgers on their roster. New England has James White, who was a talented running back and still is. Philadelphia has running back Corey Clement and defensive player Chris Maragos. So if I were to pull for either team, it would have to be the Eagles as they have two UW Badgers playing for them!

I have to confess that I was J-walking Sunday as I was crossing the street from Cobblestone Coffee House to my car that was parked across the street. I let a car pass by and another one was coming from a little distance away. I ran (as much as I can) to beat that car and did so without it having to slow down "much" to let me get to the other side!

With that little bit of snow on Sunday, I heard of at least two slide offs. I can't understand why (or how) people drive too fast for conditions when we get snow. Especially when it hasn't been around for awhile and roads aren't prepared for it.

Saturday afternoon the Barneveld High School boys and girls basketball teams played Prairie du Chien in their annual "Fight for Cancer Research" battle. Proceeds go to an area person battling that dreaded disease. Besides the games there were fundraising activities and items for sale during the day. Above, Jenna Spring paints the nails of a person at one of the stands.
