Ranked Potosi too much for Panthers

One thing Iowa-Grant's boys basketball team learned at Potosi Thursday night is that the Chieftains are ranked for a reason.
It took a half for those watching to know that as Potosi raced to a 42-14 lead thanks to foul trouble by the Panthers and some deadly shooting by the Chieftains.
Will Bierman and Ryan Kruser both netted 10 points the first half for Potosi and combined for a trio of three pointers in the first time frame with Ty Dressler added a fourth.
Brady Curtis then scored 13 points to pace the second half scoring and ended up the scoring leader for Potosi with 17. Bierman and Kruser added 12 as 11 Chieftains scored.
"They are deep for sure," said I-G coach Ryan Hill.
They also play a tough pressure defense.
"They use the run and jump which can really take you out of your flow," Hill said. "It caused us to turn the ball over.
Foul trouble did not help the Panthers. Cobb Hubbard, Isaac Hill and Ethan Kuhls all spent time on the bench the first half forcing Hill to go with several line-up changes.
"We used all our defenses and nothing stopped them," Hill said. "We used two zones and man to man. We ended up with some rotation problems and they hit some contested shots."
The second half was better as the Panthers traded points with the Chieftains with both teams putting in 36.
For the Panthers, Hubbard finished the game as the top overall scorer with 18 points, 14 coming in the second half. Michael Winders also got into double figures with 10.
