Now is time for involvement

The time to get involved in your community by serving on a board or a council. Paperwork is now available from your local clerk or school district that must be filed by 5 p.m. January 2.
To find out what positions are up for election this term, check with your clerk or district office.
There is a small stipend for serving on a board or council. You won't get rich doing so, but the real wealth is in knowing you are doing something good for your community.
If serving on a local government board is not something you can commit to, there are several committees that need citizen participation. Volunteer for a committee or commission and lend your expertise.
Most decisions that affect us locally are made by local government. Democracy starts at the grassroots level. Consider getting involved and be part of your community's solutions.
