Eagles turn up the heat on the Vikings

Barneveld's girls basketball team has been putting in a lot of time perfecting their pressure defense.
Last week Pecatonica's girls squad found out how much work the Golden Eagles have been exerting on that defense as they only managed 15 points in their 44-15 loss in Six Rivers East play.
The Eagles only allowed Pecatonica one basket the first half with two free throws added to make it the total for the Vikings in a 22-4 difference at intermission. The second half was a 22-11 affair.
Nine girls scored for the Eagles with RaeAnne Leister and Jacey Spring both getting eight, Morgan Schult seven along with Rowan Vinger and Leah Marx as both having six.
"For the most part, I was pleased with our defensive effort," said Viking coach Linda Hendrickson. "We need to value our possessions. We play solid defense for thirty or forty five seconds and we don't make the other team play defense," lamented Hendrickson, following the Six Rivers Conference Eastern Division match-up.
Freshman Tessa Green pumped in a pair of three pointers to lead the Vikings with six points.
