Cardinal coach likes the improvement

Even though the Cardinals lost to the Comets by 18 points in their non-conference game last week it was a good night for coach Josh Tarrell.
"We showed improvement and I am happy about that." Tarrell said. "We played some pretty good defense."
Now to work on the ball handling and the offense.
"We had 21 turnovers and didn't shoot well," Tarrell added. "We weren't patient and we didn't get the ball inside enough."
The second half was a source of pride for Tarrell even with the loss.
"I hate losing but this was a step in the right direction," Tarrell said.
"Myah Hennessey had a nice defensive effort," Tarrell said. "She guarded one of the best posts in the area very strong."
Payton Zurfluh got loose enough times to put up 21 points for the Comets.
"She could score from all over and also hit a couple threes," said Tarrell. "Albany also made all 12 of their free throws."
"We played pretty consistent the second half," he said again. "If we can clean up the turnovers we will be OK."
Eight girls got into the scoring act for the Cardinals and were led by 11 from Maddie Drury. Meg Tarrell came off the bench to nail a trio of three pointers for nine points.
