Pointers fall at Dells by two points

Mineral Point's boys basketball team couldn't quite finish the job Monday night at Wisconsin Dells, dropping a 65-63 non-conference contest.
The Pointers led 42-40 at halftime, but the Dells squad used balance from three players for a 25-21 edge in period two.
In the final seconds, the Pointers missed a free throw and the rebound came down to the Dells. The son of Jeff Millard, former iowa-Grant star, Sam Millard got the pass down court and calmly made the three pointer to give his team the win.
"The Dells is a quality non-conference opponent," said Pointer coach Dan Burreson. " We did a lot of good things, but just did not make enough plays when we needed to. I think we have made some strides since the beginning of the year, especially on the defensive end of the floor. We need to continue to make progress each and everyday."
The Pointers were led in scoring by Brayden Dailey with 19 points. He had 13 in the first half.
Isaac Lindsey added 17, including 11 in period one.
Burreson talked about his team saying, "Wes Berget had a real solid night with 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Brayden Dailey added 8 rebounds and led us with 4 steals. I thought Liam Stumpf played well off of the bench. He hit some shots and also got into the passing lanes. Garrett Wendhausen had a nice night on the boards with 6. Garrett and Mason Dailey each had 3 assists on the night. I felt we had solid nights from Brayden Dailey and Isaac Lindsey with 19 and 17 respectively. Liam added 9."
"We play good competition for a reason," the coach said. "Hopefully this will make us better."
The Dells' Bryson Funmaker led all scorers with22 points. He had 15 in the first half.
Dylan Anchor added 16 while Brett Hirst had 10.
