Narcan at library is not the answer
By Kasi Greenwood-kgreenwood@thedodgevillechronicle.com
A headline in the Madison paper this week announces all eight public libraries in the city will have NARCAN by the end of the year.
Aren't libraries where people go to read, check out books, use the computer, go for family time? When did libraries become a place where people can go to overdose and put their lives in jeopardy?
Don't get me wrong as I want people to be able to get help in life threatening situations but wouldn't make more sense to establish treatment centers for people to go to when they want to stop using? Or better still, how about an education program for young people so they won't turn to drugs. Maybe that is asking too much but I don't think so.
All I know is something needs to happen to attack....yes I said attack....the drug problem.
As a side note, do you read the court news and the police and sheriff's reports? If you do then you must notice the amount of drug related crimes are taking place.
I have come to the conclusion that one person cannot have the answer to what can be done to clean things up. This is something we all have to get behind and figure out.
And the time to start is now.
