The 1st Annual DodgeFest is now history. Set up in the Iowa County Courthouse parking lot started around 3:00 p.m. Friday and at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday the gates were ready to open. The crowd gathered right away for local band Free Fall and continued to grow all day long and into the evening until the final band, Super Tuesday, put on a grand finale. There was a good number of volunteers inside the fenced off area and many were there from start to finish! There were a few businesses on Iowa Street that displayed merchandise all day long outside of their stores and there were vendors on both sides of the street on the first block of West Merrimac Street. The Dodgeville Fire Department had their snorkel truck on display that youngsters were in awe of. And there was a car show on West Chapel Street that had some pretty awesome vehicles on display. All in all it was a good day!

Being at the DodgeFest all day long, I couldn't make it to my great-niece McKenna's birthday party nor could I make an appearance at Fillback's 70th anniversary celebration and Don's Tire's 50th - both in Highland. I also couldn't get to the Iowa County Cancer Coalition fundraiser at the Iowa County Fairgrounds. There was also a car show in Spring Green. There's just too many things to go to on one given day!

This Saturday and Sunday will be the Iowa County Antique & Collector's annual "Power Show" at the Iowa County Fairgrounds in Mineral Point. Stop and see all the equipment that the farmers used to use. You won't see any hundreds of thousand of dollars single pieces of equipment on display there!

One of the food stands at the DodgeFest had pie for sale. I spotted my favorite - raspberry - and after I found out it WASN'T made by my "favorite downtown Dodgeville bakery" I purchased one. I found out that was the only raspberry one they had to sell, so I settled for blueberry. A little while later I went by that stand and noticed that the raspberry pie was all gone. That must say something for my taste!

Last Sunday was the first of five Sundays of "Fall Ball" which is high school baseball. Teams playing at Centennial Park in Dodgeville are: Dodgeville, Mineral Point, Barneveld and Sluggers. They start at 9 a.m. and the final game is about 3 p.m. If you're still looking to watch some baseball, stop by. There is a concession stand too!
