Here's a few little known and or remembered facts about the latest and earliest snowfalls recorded in Wisconsin. The latest snowfall trace was May 30th 1897 and 1989 - Latest Accumulation was May 28th 1947 when we received 1" - that was when I was 1 1/2 years old. That's probably why I don't remember it!
If you're wondering about the earliest snowfall on record. The earliest trace was on September 15th 1959 and the earliest accumulation was September 26th when we received 2". Now those I remember!

In finding out that an "old" friend (actually she's very young) Meg Jewell runs Glacier Ridge in Barneveld, we went there Saturday morning to give it a try. They haven't been open all that long and the food and service was very good. Meg came in about the time we had finished eating so we caught up quite a bit. They remodeled the building quite a bit. It's very good size and has a banquet room at one end.

There's a Mexican Market going in at the north end of Dodgeville between the Chinese restaurant and Bear n Bee Salon. They are looking to open around Memorial Day.

I made several stops for Iowa County Government Day last Saturday morning. This was the first year for it - when people could visit county buildings and visit with people who work at those places - courthouse, Health & Human Services, Sheriff's Office, Highway Garage, Bloomfield Health & Rehab with representatives from Blackhawk Lake and SCS taking part too. It wasn't very well attended, but it was a first try. Bloomfield's kitchen staff made all the treats that were served -they were very good! Check out the crew at the courthouse (above).
