Dodgers give Eagles too many chances
Seven errors by the Dodgers helped the Golden Eagles gain the lead and keep it. The Dodgers got it back to one after a four run fifth, trailing 5-4 before Fennimore exploded for five in the sixth to put the game away.
Only four of Fennimore's runs were earned.
"The errors can be corrected," said coach Pat Reilly. "The spring has not been good at getting outside yet and fielding bounces off the gym floor is not the same thing as off dirt. Minimizing errors will keep us in games and Fennimore has a very nice team."
Both teams had eight hits in the contest. Trey Hunt had half of them for the Eagles, going 4x5 and contributing a two run home run in the second.
Trevor Neuroth tripled in a run in the fourth and Trevor Wanek tripled in two in the big sixth. Wanek finished the game 2x4.
The Dodgers had three errors in the first inning that let the Eagles take a 2-0 lead. They had four in the fifth when the Eagles plated five.
Zack Weber and Anthony Vivian were both 2x4 for the Dodgers and both doubled. Both had an rbi.
Branden Molldrem doubled for the Dodgers and pitched 2 2/3 innings. JJ Thompson, Mike Mikrut and Shelby Jones had a hit each for the Dodgers.
Braeden Vivian drew the starting assignment for the Dodgers and worked three frames. He gave up three hits, walked two and struck out three.
Molldrem went next and gave up four hits along with a walk.
Anthony Vivian finished with three strikeouts, a walk and one hit in an inning and a third.
"Our pitchers did a good job under the weather conditions and the errors," said Reilly. "Overall we played a decent game except for the too many chances we gave them. You can't do that against a good team because they will find a way to score."
