Cardinals find River Ridge too much

Too many Crubels, too many touchdowns with a little too much Moravits thrown in.
Cole and Blake Crubel both took part in a pair of touchdowns for River Ridge Friday in a 44-0 decision over Highland. Cole threw a 17 yard pass to Brett Moravits to get the scoring started then took off on a 59 yard race for a 16-0 first quarter.
Blake then sandwiched a four yard scoring run and a 13 yard jaunt around an 18 yard run by Tyler Milan and a 51 yard fumble return by Moravits to make it 44-0 at the half which ended up to be the final score.
When it was over the Timberwolves had 511 total yards, 412 rushing and 99 passing while limiting Highland to a 122 total. The Cardinals ran for 85 and passed for 37.
It was a very tough night for the Cardinals who are still battling injuries and are yet to have their full team back.
"We are playing five sophomores and two freshman at some points during the games," said Highland coach Mike Aide.
"River Ridge was very well coached and made big plays on defense." Aide said. "They caused us to make three offensive turnovers that led to scores. We dug ourselves a pretty big hole and couldn't get any momentum the whole game."
Besides Adam Wolfe passing for 35 yards and rushing for 55 there was not much happening on offense for the Cardinals. Isaac Kutzke had 35 yards receiving on two catches on Wolfe passes. Wolfe caught a pass from Peyton Coyier for a two yard gain.
"We had no scoring chances," Aide said. "We made it across midfield twice."
The Cardinals travel to Cashton Friday for a non-conference game.
"We play at Cashton Friday night. They are 1-4 this season and have played some very good teams so far," Aide said. "We need to match their intensity. Cashton has good size and speed. We hopefully can get a player or two back this week but we will not know until mid week. Seniors have done a great job keeping us on track and not getting discouraged. We have received great leadership from them."
