Along the Ad Routes
By Mike Reilly-mreilly@thedodgevillechronicle.com
all began when I went to the Mineral Point/Marshall football game. I ran into
several people I hadn't seen for awhile and not only saw a pretty good game,
but watched some young cheerleaders and dancers perform. I was pretty tired
and knew I had a long day on Saturday, so I left the game after halftime. The
Pointers kept their winning streak going and won over Marshall.

Saturday morning, three of the four Amigos went to breakfast at the Pleasant
Ridge Store - just northeast of Dodgeville. In walked Marv Levetzow
(also know around these parts as Marvelous Marv!) with a bunch of high
school classmates and their spouses. Come to find out they all graduated high
school from Muscatine, Iowa. Now that's where my son Michael and wife
Jolisa live. We had a little talk about me writing about the IOWA drivers and
I told them a few stories. Marv had mentioned that I write about crossing the
main street (in the crosswalk) and the IOWA drivers not stopping for me.
They pretty much all agreed that should be a law in Iowa like it is in Wisconsin.
I asked them if they knew Michael or Jolisa, explaining that he works
for Hyvee Foods and she is a cop. One fellow said he had a bunch of friends
who work for Hyvee, so he'd ask about him. Another said he was pretty sure
he had seen Jolisa on the beat! He said if he got pulled over by her he'd mention
that he knew me. I told him if he said that, she'd throw the book at him
for sure!

I made it to several matches at the Iowa-Grant invitational Volleyball Tournament
on Saturday and also to the Otter Creek Fall Auction also on Saturday
morning.

Saturday night I went to the Dodgeville High School graduating Class of
1967's reunion and took a group photo. They wanted to hand them out that
night to the people there, so I sent the pics to Walgreen's and had them ready
for them that night. I ran into several of them on Sunday and they were
thrilled!

Sunday was the annual Dodgeville Area Scholarship Foundation's (DASFI)
golf outing at Dodge Point Country Club. We had a record 37 teams and
hopefully made a chunk of money for scholarships. The three "Kathryn Mc-
Graw" pies - made by granddaughter Lori (Lawinger) McKinlay - went for
some $1,800 or so and all of the 50/50 raffle winners donated all or part of
their winnings back. I could talk about a lot of people I saw there, many
whom I hadn't seen in a long time. After the early morning rain and the temperature
warmed up, it was a beautiful day - and a "Great Day to Be a
Dodger!"
