Along the Ad Routes

The Dodgeville Knights Home Talent Baseball Team closed out their 2017
season with a 7-0 loss at Middleton Sunday in the round-robin "Final 4" playoff
series. For a 7-9 regular season team to get to the "World Series" of home
talent baseball, that was quite an accomplishment. Then, to lose their ace
pitcher after two innings of the first round game and their second pitcher
after two frames of the second playoff game, it was a pitching struggle for
them. They had also lost two starters before the season started to "Tommy
John" surgery too.
Anyway, 49-year-old Bill Hellman pitched very well Sunday and several
times down the stretch and "one previous inning on the season" pitcher Nate
Michek threw well Sunday too. The team should be proud of their season
and look forward to next year when they will be even better and stronger!

Brandon grew up from across the street at Centennial Park and probably
lived at the ball field as much as he did at home! He has served a lot as a
coach this season and contributes to the team in many ways.

It was another beautiful weekend for just about anything. Hollandale had
a great Homecoming celebration and there was a lot of hustle and bustle,
plus great trap shooting at the Jonesdale Field Days.

This Sunday is the annual Dodgeville Area Scholarship Foundation
(DASFI) Golf Tournament. It is the main fundraiser for scholarships from
this group. There looks to be some 36 -person teams playing. There are some
great prizes going to be handed out and some items for bid plus the famous
pies that were begun by Kathrine McGraw. It is a great time to run into some
people you haven't seen for years - so stop out, even if you aren't playing
golf and visit!

As of today's (Sunday) look at the weather forecast, the best chance for
some much needed rain that we need begins about noon (tee-off time) on
Sunday. We do need the rain, but Saturday or Monday would be fine!

I had someone buy me a roll for that "Not So" Quality Bakery the other
day. I wasn't really hungry right then so I took it home. For some reason I
forgot it and left it in the bag for several days. Like I always say when I did
eat it - "It tasted just as good as the day it was bought!"
