Dodger volleyball slips by Prairie

Dodgeville's volleyball team did something coach Scott Garthwaite said probably wouldn't have happened much in the past.
The Dodgers won the final two games of a five game set with host Prairie du Chien - both by two points.
Prairie won the first game 25-21, but the Dodgers roared back with a 25-19 winning game two.
Prairie won the third 26-24 and the Dodgers knotted it with their own 26-24 win in the fourth game.
Then the Dodgers won the match with a 15-13 win in the finale.
"It was nice to have an opening conference win," Garthwaite pointed out."We had way too many hitting errors (32) and basically gave away 52 points, but we did what we set out to do - we passed and received well."
On the night, Madison Stumpf led in kills with 16 while Olivia Argall posted 6 and her sister Ellie 5. Jo Jo Heimerl, Grace Borne and Anna Rhuland each had 4 while Sara Mae Polinag recorded 1.
Rhuland had two blocks and Olivia Argall and Heimerl each had one. Grace Borne, Polinag, Grace Higgins and Alyssa Belling had 20, 18, 15 and 10 digs.
Grace Borne led in assists with 22 while Stumpf had 16 and Olivia Argall one.
Ellie Argall served three aces as did Karlie Cushman. Lily Durst had two with Heimerl, Olivia Argall, Durst and Stumpf each having one.
"The girls played hard," Garthwaite said.
They will have to as they host Platteville Thursday, go to the tough DeForest tourney Saturday and travel to Richland Center Tuesday.
