Along the Ad Routes
By Mike Reilly-mreilly@thedodgevillechronicle.com
Tour that passed through our area. The temperatures were in the mid 70 degree
range and there was a lot of sun. Sunday was a different story as there
was a lot of drizzle and temperatures only got into the 50s with a high around
56! I went on part of the art tour Saturday and had a great time talking with
the artists. They pretty much all remembered me from the past few years -
but many of them asked "where's Bob?!" They were referring to Bob Kratochwill,
who usually accompanied me on the tour. Him being an artist too,
he always asks a lot of questions too!

Saturday I was crossing the main street of Dodgeville and was actually in
the crosswalk for a change! Three WISCONSIN licensed cars, coming from
the north, didn't stop for me - but an IOWA licensed car did that was coming
from the south. Now there's a swithcharoo!

Congratulations to the Dodgeville-Mineral Point boys cross country team.
After winning the SWC conference meet, they beat the field at the Platteville
Sectionals and are now going to state in Division 2 Saturday at Wisconsin
Rapids. This is a return trip for them as they finished just five points out of
first (6th place) last year in one of the tightest State meets on record. They
will be joined by girls' runner junior Lindsay Johnston, who will be competing
as an individual. Best of luck to them!

Above, you'll see (l-r) Isaac Grunow, Henry Keith, Peyton Tranel, Juan
Navarro, Lindsay Johnston, Will Borne-Mumm, Jordan May, Gerrit Bakker
and Dylan McGraw supporting the championship plaque after being brought
into Dodgeville by the Dodgeville Fire Department.

Iowa-Grant will be represented by boys cross country freshman Nick Connolly,
who qualified as an individual in Division 3 from the Fennimore Sectional.
Good luck to him!

I see ground was broken last week for the new Dollar Tree Store that is to
be built soon between the Dodgeville Armory and Weaver's Mall that is located
on Leffler Street near Walmart!

The UW Badgers football team kept up its unbeaten string on the season.
They will have a couple of "handful" games coming up soon. Hopefully they
can stay with it and get a pretty good bowl game down the stretch!

The Packers played pretty well Sunday without Aaron Rodgers, but fell
short against New Orleans. They probably should've been able to score more
points, but with Brett Hundley in his first start at quarterback, it was tougher
- even after the defense gave him the ball after a couple of interceptions. The
Packers defense wasn't really in sync all day and neither was the offense -
but it will come!
