D-P boys win, girls 3rd in SWC meet

When a cross country team claims the first five finishes in a race that makes for a perfect score of 15 and a sure win.
That's what the Dodgeville-Mineral Point boys team did Thursday on their own course during the SWC Championships.
"It was wonderful to host the Southwest Wisconsin Conference cross country meet at Dodgeville High School on Thursday, October 12, said Dodge-Point coach Denny McGraw following the meet.

McGraw talked about the boys race saying, "It was so exciting to see the boys run so well as they claimed the conference title by having a perfect score of 15 points to the nearest competitor, Platteville, who scored 50. The boys have been working hard all year and we were so thrilled to see them win conference. The course for our home meets had to be changed because of the new additions to the school. So, the runners come around the far corner of the school and it was amazing to see Dodge-Point dominate by taking the first five spots. Led by Henry Keith, a sophomore who placed first. He is such a strong, confident runner who will continue to be a force to be reckoned with. Second was senior, Gerrit Bakker. What a race! He is getting better and better and we can't wait to see what else he can do. Third was senior Juan Navarro, who has made great contributions to the team all four years and continues to be a great leader on this strong team. Placing fourth was senior Isaac Grunow, who has also been a great leader that has helped develop a strong sense of comradery among the boys that makes them be a better team. Placing fifth was sophomore Peyton Tranel. He has improved in each race this year and we know he will continue to do so we go into the final races of the season. Junior Dylan McGraw and senior Jordan May placed 8th and 10th in the conference race. They are key runners that will make a huge difference for the team as they out race other teams fourth and fifth runners. They are both strong runners who will make a difference in the next couple of weeks."
