Along the Ad Routes

Point or Mineral Point to Baraboo (depending on which part of the tour you
begin) and runs through all the artisans in between - like Spring Green,
Dodgeville, Ridgeway and more! I usually go on the tour (or parts of it) every
year and find a lot of interesting people to talk to, not to mention the beautifual
scenery and works that the artists create. While on the tour, people can
find a lot of restaurants and coffee shops to stop in and give their products a
try. It's a great weekend to get out of the house!

The Fall Art Tour weekend is usually the time for fall colors to be at their
best, but this year with the lack or rain (not the last few days though) the
trees and leaves seem to look more drab than usual - maybe it's because I'm
getting old and can't see as well as I used to??!!!

The regular season has ended for high school football, volleyball and soccer
teams. Regional tournament play began Tuesday for volleyball and soccer
with football playoffs starting Friday night. All teams begin play in the volleyball
and soccer while (from our coverage area) Mineral Point, Iowa-Grant,
Pecatonica-Argyle, River Valley and Mount Horeb-Barneveld are in the first
round of football play. Cross country sectionals are this coming Saturday
with teams and/or invividuals looking to head to state at Wisconsin Rapids
the following Saturday. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS!

It's not even Halloween yet and already the Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce
has met twice about promotions for the holidays - starting with (traditionally)
Small Business Saturday - two days after Thanksgiving. There is
a planned time for a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, plus more - watch for
more details as things fall into place!

Kudos to Gary Bay and White Rose Florist for putting up and taking care
of the hanging baskets all summer long in the downtown area. They have
now put up the cornstalks for the fall - that will soon be taken down. Next
they will put up the Christmas tree in the downtown area!

The UW Badgers football team kind of stunk it up Saturday against Purdue,
but still held on for a win - I guess a win's a win any way you look at it. They
remain unbeaten on the season - one of just a handful of teams!

I'm recognizing the Dodgeville High School Dance Team above as they
performed at halftime of Friday night's game for the final time this season.
They did so in the rain!
